Background
Examining a road of National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. PL Shupika among the founders of it we find the names of the then well-known, recognized in Kyiv and outside experts Professors GF Pysemskyi (1862-1937) and VL Lozynsky (-1943)., They were led by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, one of the first four, based in the Institute of Professional Union of Medical Workers.
A talented student academic GE Rijn (1854-1942), Professor Gregory F. Pysemsky headed the department, in fact its obstetric unit in 1937. However, he managed the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology № 1 of the Kiev Medical Institute (now the National Medical University. Bogomolets) and only in 1930 conceded it to his disciple, Professor Alexander I. Krupsky (1875-1943), who had previously worked faculty director of obstetric and gynecological clinic of the Odessa State Medical Institute.
Professor VL Lozinski, long secretary of the Kiev Scientific Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, led the gynecological department chair. Both professors personified the best examples of humanity and the professional medical practice, characterized by their talented predecessors on university hospital professors OO Muratov, GG Bruno and others.
We must emphasize the collective efforts of the department to maintain and improve the experience of predecessors. Since then, as March 22, 1880 George Yermolayevych Rhine elections in privat-docent Medico-Surgical Academy two trial lectures "On the innervation of the uterus" and "On ureteral and uterine fistula," was laid the foundation regenerative surgery in obstetrics and Gynecology for the whole 17-year period of his productive activity at the Department of Obstetrics and Female Diseases of the University of Kiev St. Vladimir (1883-1900). It is natural that this direction has been entrusted by his followers, Professors GF Pysemsky and VL Lozynsky the basis of scientific development and education programs for doctors ..

In 1935 the department was divided in half. Department of Obstetricsand Gynaecology № 1 was headedby Professor GF Pysemsky, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology № 2 - ProfessorVL Lozinski. This division was kept in pre-and post wary ears. Professor VLLozynsky jheaded the department before theSecond World Warandtragically died in 1943 during the occupation of Kyiv.
Further fruitful activity of bothdepartment stook place in close cooperation, causedby the common understanding of postgraduate education programs. In postwartimes, Department of Obstetricsand Gynaecology № 2 by Professors SP Vinogradova, VMHmelyevskyy, V. Savitsky, F.O. Petersburg, AA Davydenko, EV Kohanevich. In its structure at various times workedas a professor EY Stavska (Stavropol), RA Chertok (Voronyezh), KM Zhmakin (Moscow), academician of the USSR, Professor AP Nikolaev (Leningrad, Kyiv), Associate Professor BL Logvynsky, MI Nedzvetska, MS Liashenko, VIBabuhadiya, PM Savitsky, EP Triodin and others, diligenceand creativity which created a scientific school and strong reputation of theclinic.

Taking care of Professor Mikhail Konstantinovich Dahl, who long headed the Department of Pathology KIUL, and Anatoly Alexandrovich Davidenko, who headed the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology № 2 after F.O. Petersburg, the first in the former Soviet Union, a specialized center for diagnostics and treatment of trophoblastic disease and also issued the first Soviet monograph devoted chorionepithelioma.
In 1985-2006 he headed the department of student professors II Hryshchenko (Kharkiv) and VM Savitsky (Kyiv) Professor SS Leush. From 2006 to 2011, the department was headed by Professor AN Yuzko by which a list of educational, scientific, medical and practical programs of the department significantly enriched experience in endoscopic surgery and advanced reproductive technologies.
In 2011, the department was headed by Professor O. Holyanovskyy, under the direction of a more active process improvement technologies and approaches to continuous professional development of physicians on the basis of evidence-based medicine, began to be introduced into clinical practice new technologies surgery (argon-plasma coagulation of tissue), organ preservation techniques and surgical hemostasis began modernization of logistics department .

.In particular one of the directions of scientific activities of the Department was the improvement of an integrated approach to the problem of postpartum hemorrhage and massive obstetric hemorrhage. The main components of the approach are a) use of prognostic and preventive measures and b) the use of organ surgical hemostasis methods (tubal ligation and ovarian vessels, ligation of internal iliac arteries, the use of compression sutures in the uterus).
Soon the department will implement the use of telemedicine technology and distance learning doctors, active collaboration with professional societies of Europe and North America as well as leading international experts.
Activities Department at the present stage
The Department is an active unit of High School, medical, scientific, organizational, methodological, pedagogical institution that provides for highly specialized obstetrical and gynecological care female population of Ukraine, Kyiv and Kyiv region, and carries out educational and pedagogical work according to the task of postgraduate education quality control and knowledge of experts.

Research
The Department carries out research work on "Rehabilitation of the functions of the female body" (№ state registration 0102V004021, registration date 04.06.02.).
As a result science department has developed a number of new techniques.
These include methods for determining the degree of correlation hypovolemic syndrome in pregnant women with hypertensive syndrome in the third trimester of pregnancy, methods of complex treatment of bacterial vaginosis in pregnancy planning, methods of treating urogenital candidiasis in different clinical variants of its course, standards of practical skills in obstetrics and gynecology for medical specialist who published in the manual, methods of efferent therapy in complex preventive and therapeutic measures in purulent resorptive processes in obstetrics.
Department staff are actively involved in developing textbooks.

 

Clinical work
Personnel Department does consulting work in base hospitals provide highly skilled careto patients in the gynecological and obstetrical departments, conduct specialized advisorytechniques of gynecological endocrinology, infertility treatment, cervical pathology and ultrasound diagnostics.

International Activities
The department trained and training clinical interns, graduate and postgraduate students from Georgia and Azerbaijan.
The department participated in international scientific conferences, congresses andsymposia in Strasbourg (France), Prague (Czech Republic), Vienna (Austria), Baden-Baden (Germany), Moscow and St. Petersburg (Russia), other cities and countries.
